General

Check-in starts at 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 10:00 AM at the latest. Early check-in isn't possible as we’ll be busy getting your beach house sparkling clean for you. If you arrive early, feel free to visit one of the cozy beach pavilions or take a refreshing stroll along the shore. Welcome to the beach!

One week before arrival, you’ll receive an information email containing your beach house number and the code for the key safe. The safe is located on the front of your house. Once you've opened it with the code, you can grab the key and head inside. At the end of your stay, simply place the key back in the safe and lock it. You can keep the key with you during your entire stay.
We want all our guests to enjoy the peace of the coast. Therefore, speakers, silent disco sets, and other amplified music are not allowed on the verandas. After 10:00 PM, the beach becomes very serene, and we kindly ask everyone to respect that tranquility so everyone can fully enjoy the sounds of nature.

Our beach houses remain on the beach until the end of October.

The HaagseStrandhuisjes are located north of beach entrance 2A (strandslag 2A) in The Hague. For GPS, use Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan 175, Den Haag. If you drive about 50 meters past this point, you’ll see the dune path on your right, near the electric car charging stations. From there, follow the signs for ‘HaagseStrandhuisjes’ into the dunes. Take the path towards beach entrance 2A. Once you hit the sand, you’ll see pavilion ‘Suiderstrand’ on your right, with the beach houses right next to it. You can reach your house via the beach path; only the last few meters to your front door are across the sand. All other paths are paved.

The coordinates are: latitude 52.0638238, longitude 4.2178739. This marks the start of the dune path at Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan near the charging stations. This is the shortest route to the houses.

You can park free of charge on the Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan and in the nearby parking lot along the same street.

Certainly, that is no problem at all.

From the parking area at Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan (Beach Entrance 2A/ strandslag 2A), it’s a lovely short walk through the dunes straight onto the beach.

Cars are not allowed on the sand. However, every house is equipped with a beach wagon to help you transport your luggage easily.

• From Den Haag CS (Central Station): Take Bus 24 to the final stop, ‘Kijkduin Strand’ or ‘Kijkduin’. • From Den Haag HS (Hollands Spoor): Take Bus 26 to the final stop, ‘Kijkduin’. From the stop, you can walk to the beach houses via the dune path, the cycle path, or the beach path. For live travel times, please check www.htm.nl.

Each house has a foldable beach wagon waiting for you. Just unfold it, click the wheels into place, and you’re ready to roll!

Of course! You are welcome to have a few guests over during the day (maximum of four) as long as it remains peaceful for the neighbors.
To preserve the quiet atmosphere, parties are not allowed in or around the beach houses. If you have something to celebrate, we highly recommend booking a spot at one of the nearby beach pavilions!
We are big animal lovers, but pets are strictly not allowed in our houses. We hope you find a cozy place for your furry friend to stay while you're away. If you really want to bring your pet to the coast, we suggest checking out our colleagues at other beach house locations where dogs are permitted.
We don’t book activities directly, but every beach house has an information folder packed with tips for local activities, rentals, and restaurants.
We don't have a traditional reception building, but our team is present on the beach during check-in and check-out times. You can also reach us anytime via WhatsApp or email.
Not ideally. To reach each house, you have to walk across the sand for several meters, and there are a few steps to enter the house. The interior has not been specifically adapted for physical disabilities.

Booking and Reservations

You can reserve your stay using the buttons on our reservation page: www.haagsestrandhuisjes.nl/en/reservation. You’ll also find a map there with the specific numbers of the beach houses.

Once you select your preferred dates in the booking module, the price will show up automatically.

You can adjust your reservation yourself within the booking system. If you run into any trouble, just send us an email with your booking number and your question to gastenservice@haagsestrandhuisjes.nl, and we’ll look into it for you.

Bookings can be cancelled free of charge via email (gastenservice@haagsestrandhuisjes.nl) within two working days of booking, unless your stay starts within one month. Otherwise, cancellation fees apply based on the total amount:

  • Up to 28 days before arrival: €350 cancellation fee per booking.
  • Within 28 days of arrival: 80% of the total amount.
  • 5 days or less before arrival: 100% of the total amount.
The booking module shows which houses are available. Since you can only book one house per reservation, we recommend making your reservations immediately after one another to secure adjacent spots.

Your Stay

As much as we’d love to have you, the houses are for holiday use or "workations" only. The maximum stay is three consecutive weeks.

Yes! And—if we say so ourselves—it’s nice and fast. Each house has its own router. You’ll find the password in the information folder in your house.

You can park your bicycles on the concrete base plates next to your veranda.

Absolutely. The houses are well-insulated and equipped with heaters. Very cozy!

Yes, you can arrive whenever you like. Your arrival email (sent one week before) contains the lockbox code, so you can let yourself in at any time.

We don’t offer single-night stays. Bookings are available per week, midweek, or weekend. During the high season, we only rent by the week. If you’re looking for just one night, we recommend

checking out a local hotel.

Is it safe to swim in the sea? Please always check the flags of the lifeguards located at the beach entrance. They will indicate whether it is safe to enter the water.
If the module shows no availability, we are indeed fully booked. If you’d like to be the first to know when the new season opens or hear about last-minute deals, leave your details on our contact page.
Our team is busy preparing your house until 3:00 PM, so the access code won’t work until then. However, your holiday starts the moment you hit the sand! Feel free to grab a drink at a beach pavilion while you wait. Cheers!

Baby cots can be added to your reservation as an extra when you book.

You’ll find support rails attached to the side of the bottom bunk and the opposite wall. A bed base and mattress are stored nearby (between the bunk and the wardrobe); simply place the bed base onto these rails to create an extra bed.

During the day, you are more than welcome to set up a small sun tent or windbreak on the beach, provided you follow the local beach regulations. Please note that these must be taken down in the evening, as staying overnight in a tent is not allowed on the beach.

Surroundings

There is a bakery on the Kijkduin boulevard. It’s about a 12-minute walk heading north along the beach path.

The restaurants on the boulevard are open year-round. The beach pavilions (on the sand) usually start opening from March 1st. Opening dates vary depending on how quickly they can set up, but everything is usually up and running by April 1st. If you’d like to make a reservation, please check their website for more information.

Yes, there is an ATM on the Kijkduin boulevard at Deltapromenade 297. It is open daily from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

The supermarket (PLUS) in the indoor part of the Kijkduin boulevard is open Monday–Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

In the kitchen cabinet above the stove, the cupboard in the children’s bedroom, or you can place crates under the sofa or bed. With a bit of puzzling, you’ll find there’s plenty of space!

Yes! However, please place your BBQ in the sand at a safe distance (at least 3 meters) from the beach house. Since the beach houses and verandas are made of wood, we have to be extra careful. Please don't use the windbreak or chairs to block the wind for the BBQ, as the fabric will melt.

No need! This little deer has lived here for years. The local forest ranger keeps a close eye on it and prefers to let it live its natural life. It frequently pops up to say hello near the path—a warm welcome from nature!

You sure can! Just make sure to prepare them correctly. Enjoy your local snack!
That is Sea Sparkle (zeevonk)! It’s a type of algae that emits light when moved. It can make the breaking waves or your footsteps in the water glow bright blue. It’s absolutely spectacular!
The best thing to do is simply keep your distance and enjoy the view. It’s quite common for seals to pop their heads above water or rest on the sand. A special moment, isn’t it?
